Objective

 

This seminar explores Universal Design Principles and Accessibility frameworks developed by UNESCO and current systems in place for provision of e-books to DHH students.  The seminar will discuss ways to go beyond the standard provision of accessibility with the view to promoting multi-lingual language acquisition in DHH children and youth. 

 

Abstract

 

The webinar will explore the current environment that provides guidance to scholars, teachers, non-profit organizations, and educational institutions in the provision of open access resources in which elements could be developed, created and borrowed to facilitate translations in other sign languages in multiple countries.  The seminar will discuss ways to pool resources and ensure support beyond basic provision of translated material with the view to facilitating multi-lingual language acquisition in deaf children and youth on an international scale.
